Patent terms

Terms for specific patents:
1. for utility and plant patents filed after June 8, 1995, the term ends 20 years from the date the patent application was filed
2. design patents end after 14 years:
a. the term begins on the date the patent issues
b. continued prosecution applications will have the same application number and filing date of the parent
c. in reissues, the term is the unexpired part of the parent
